Athalia Uitreik is op 23 Februarie 2012 gestig toe ‘n groepie bejaarde persone besluit het hulle is moeg om tussen huise geskuif te word en nie meer rond wil trek nie. Hulle wou ‘n tuiste en veilige hawe vind waar hulle permanent kon bly. Hierdie persone was inwoners van ‘n organisasie wat besluit het om die aantal huise wat mense huisves te verminder, en hulle is in kennis gestel dat hulle binne 24 uur verskuif sou word na verskillende huise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tydens hierdie onsekerheid het die persone tuisgegaan in ‘n huis op Stalsweg 22B, Wilgehof, Bloemfontein. Ann\u00e9lize van der Walt, die eggenote van die eienaar van die huis, is genader en gevra of sy en haar man nie hulle huis sou wil omskep in ‘n permanente tuiste vir die persone nie. Na gebed en konsultasie met Ans Coetzee, wat uitgetree het by ‘n ander organisasie en as raadgewer betrokke was, is daar besluit dat hierdie huis gebruik sou word as ‘n tuiste en ‘n belangrike gemeenskapsdiens sou lewer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Daar is ‘n voortdurende groot behoefte om uit te reik na persone wat nie meer ‘n bestaan kan maak in die huidige ekonomiese klimaat nie. Daarom is besluit om ‘n nie-winsgewende Uitreik Aksie te stig en ‘n permanente Tuiste te skep vir hierdie inwoners en ander in nood. <\/span><\/p>\n

Die naam Athalia Uitreik is gekies, wat van Hebreeuse oorsprong is en beteken “God is verhewe” of “die Here is magtig”.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
